Adoption
F.A.Q
Q: What does the adoption fee cover:
A: Your adoption fee helps cover spay/neuter, vaccines, rabies, microchip, heartworm testing/prevention, food and medical care. Most dogs cost the rescue far more than the adoption fee.
Q: Can I adopt if I rent?
A: Yes! We may request landlord contact info or proff that pets are allowed
Q: Can I "try-out" a dog first?
A: We may allow a foster-to-adopt trial when deemed appropriate. This depends on the dog and your home situation.
Q: Are the dogs good with kids/cats/other dogs?

A: We evaluate every dog the best we can. Some dogs are tested with other dogs/cats, but we always recommend slow introductions and supervision.
Q: Do you adopt outside of Mount Vernon / East TX?
A: Yes, depending on the adopter and approved transport options.
Q: What if the dog has an accident or chews something?
A: Transition time is normal. Adopters should expect an adjustment period, follow a routine, use crate training and contact LER for advice
Q: What if I have to return the dog?
A: Returns happen sometimes. We aske adopters to contact us immediately so we can make safe arrangements for our furry survivor.
